Introduced in June 2002, the 17 page per minute (ppm) HP Color LaserJet 4600 series printers replaced the then two-year-old 4550 series. The 4650 (22 ppm) followed in June 2004, and the 4610 (22 ppm) in July 2005.
At least two Canon versions were also available, the LBP-2510 and the imageCLASS C2500, both with print speeds of 17 ppm.
All models utilize one 9,000 page yield black toner cartridge and three 8,000 page yield color cartridges. Each cartridge requires a new chip for correct printer operation.
